The principals of PA Associates bring more than 70 years of combined experience to their leadership of the company. They are assisted by an exceptional team of real estate professional that together, work diligently to service all aspects of a strong development company.
Paul Slayton has been an active real estate developer for over 40 years. Through his Slayton Development Group, Paul Slayton developed more than 11.5 million square feet of office, retail and self-storage space that have created over 30,000 permanent jobs, and 20,000 construction jobs. His commitment to revitalization of property through conscientious quality real estate development includes the remediation and redevelopment of hundreds of acres of Brownfield properties in New Jersey.
Aaron Malinsky was the former vice chairman and chief development officer of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (“A&P”); a position which provided unparalleled experience in the identification and development of retail real estate projects. His successes include the development of over one hundred shopping centers throughout the metropolitan New York region, as well as a variety of residential and industrial buildings.
James P. Hyland joined PA Associates as its Chief Financial Officer in 2002. He has been a senior financial executive for more than 25 years. Mr. Hyland joined PA Associates following a career in the retail food industry, as a Vice President of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. During his 32 years at A&P he held several senior financial positions including Controller, with direct responsibility for 10 regional accounting centers throughout the United States and Canada. Mr. Hyland also served as a senior member of the company’s acquisition team, having successfully acquired and integrated hundreds of stores generating six billion dollars in annual sales. In addition to positions in finance, Mr. Hyland has also been involved in store operations, serving as Vice President of Operations for A&P’s Super Fresh divisions and as Executive Vice President of the company’s Waldbaum’s division.
Douglas Slayton has been in the Real Estate development business for over 15 years. He has developed several million square feet of commercial property, including shopping centers, industrial parks, self storage, and most recently urban mixed-used developments. His role includes project master planning and design, budgeting, permits and entitlements, lease planning and coordination, and construction supervision. Doug also has extensive expertise in the area of environmental clean-up, having completed several Brownsfield reclamation projects, and has worked with State and Federal environmental agencies to implement the remediation process.
Stephen A. Cassella has over 18 years of experience in the retail leasing industry with various national developers including Vornado Realty Trust, Westfield Inc. and the Richard E. Jacobs Group. Most recently for Vornado, Stephen led the mall retail team in the leasing of over 13,000,000 square feet and maintaining occupancy in excess of 95%. Stephen has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of project leasing on the east coast and throughout the mid-west, including the pre-planning, implementation and execution of regional mall development/re-development in major metropolitan areas including New York, Washington D.C., Boston, Tampa, Cleveland and Hartford.
Benjamin Malinsky has been involved in the pre-development and development of multiple projects in his three years at PA Associates. As assistant project manager, Ben’s duties range from being a conduit between PA Associates and city and state agencies, to coordinating activities amongst a variety of professional consultants, as well as managing relations with tenants. Ben also works with the architects and engineers to coordinate their activities and troubleshoot on issues as they arise.
Jenny Slayton Green is responsible for the day-to-day operations of PA Associates. She coordinates communications between PA’s three principal lines of business (Industrial, Retail & Storage) and works alongside the principal’s to support the company’s endeavors. Jenny also coordinates special events including ribbon-cuttings, broker outreach and exhibitions for PA development projects. She has developed the data management systems that allow PA Associates to operate in a streamlined and efficient manor.
Carolyn Malinsky’s principal focus at PA Associates is on political affairs and community relations. Carolyn works with local community leaders and organizations, as well as City and State officials, to maintain relationships and open lines of communication regarding the status of various projects under development. She manages the complexities of each public-private partnership by coordinating all the project consultants to ensure job approvals are processed quickly and efficiently. Carolyn also supervises the practice of minority, women, and local business hiring during all phases of development, and she directs the company’s marketing and public relations efforts.
